Earth Charter Retreat

Grassroots activists are invited to take part in a retreat scheduled for the weekend of August 16-18. Based on principles of the Earth Charter, the experience will be unique in Indiana as a means of supporting people involved with important community causes.

While anyone is welcome, the retreat is especially designed for peace and justice, environmental and neighborhood activists who could benefit from time away with their peers to be reinvigorated and re-inspired.

Growing out of the values of the Earth Charter the retreat will support our understanding that humankind, the earth and all of life are interdependent and of how that understanding can guide our relationships and decisions within the natural and social environment.

The weekend retreat will take place at the FFA Leadership Center near Trafalgar, approximately 45 minutes south of downtown Indianapolis.  It will begin on Friday evening and conclude late Sunday afternoon.  During that time participants will take part in group discussions and private reflection in order to reinforce their own personal values and philosophies about earth and society.  However, there will also be plenty of time to simply relax and enjoy the wooded setting and each other’s friendship.

Organizers hope to enroll approximately 20 people who presently provide leadership for grassroots organizations.  Registration fee for the weekend including lodging, meals and materials is $90 per person.  Individuals can register for themselves, or grassroots groups may want to sponsor someone from their organization to attend on their behalf.  For more information about the retreat, contact Jerry King at 317-356-0043 or at jerryking@ecoisp.com
