Indianapolis Etc. Etc. Etc.

With the elections over for a while, our City-County Council has been hard at work. As a tribute to his long service to Indianapolis, the Council voted to name the room in which they meet the Dr. Beurt SerVaas Public Assembly Room.****The Republicans have picked a successor to his District seat—Sean Frick.****The Council was about to choose a successor to his Presidency position, when Councillor David Smith walked out in protest of the level of cooperation Council Republicans have shown with Democratic Mayor Bart Peterson. All has been patched up, at least what is open to public view, and Dr. Phil Borst was elected President of the Council and Beulah Coughenour elected Vice-President.****Put on the fast track was a resolution to allow sign proliferation within select zoning categories in Indianapolis. If approved by the Metropolitan Development Commission, this change will allow not-for-profit groups to post any number of 9 square foot signs on their property advertising special events; up to 4 times a month. The Commission is anticipated to take public comments at its meeting on December 18th.****Meanwhile, over in the Administration Mike Dearing has been named to lead the Metropolitan Planning Organization and Rick Powers will take the helm at Division of Compliance.
