Election Day will be upon us before the next issue of Common Grounds hits mailboxes throughout Marion County. As neighborhood people, we petition our Government constantly and in many forms and venues. But, we must always remember that our Government and the very responsiveness of our Government, depends solely upon who we elect to office. This election day is supposed to be a slow one. But public safety, the issue that has been so dominant of late, will be hugely impacted by this election. Up for election are the offices of Marion County Sheriff and Prosecutor, and both the Circuit Court and Superior Court Judgeships. Also on the ballot are the positions of County Auditor and County Assessor — two of the three positions that comprise the County Commission. And this body wields a great deal of power through the number of seats it can appoint to influential boards, commissions, and the like. No matter your politics, get informed, be sure to vote, and urge all you know to do likewise. For a list of offices and the candidates:
