Greetings Neighbors!

The Urban Committee of the Hoosier Heartland Resource Conservation and Development Council (HHRC&D) has announced their re/detention pond workshop series, called "Pond Pro Program".

The Pond Pro Program occurs over 4 week nights, 6:30-8:30pm, starting April 23, April 30, May 7, and May 14. The Pond Pro Program will help any homeowner's organization or individuals who have re/detention ponds to manage. The workshops will cover water quality, wildlife, watershed, legal, safety and maintenance issues over a series of four classroom sessions. The classes will help non-professionals to understand and implement sound management and maintenance practices. Classes will be held in Cool Creek Park near Westfield on April 23, April 30, May 7 and May 14. An optional hands-on session on Saturday, May 17th, will be held at an existing detention pond in the area. The cost of the workshop is $30. Register by calling the Hoosier Heartland Office at 290-3250.

Topics covered in the Pond Pro Program will include:
* Intro to Limnology (pond science)
* Basics of Pond Design
* Wildlife Management (nuisance and otherwise - a/k/a geese)
* Fish Management
* Water Quality
* Watershed Planning
* Aquatic Plant Control
* Pond Safety and Legal issues
* Resources for solving your specific pond challenge.
