Meg
Maguire of Scenic America Visit Rescheduled MCANA is very honored to have Meg Maguire, president of Scenic America as one of our guest speakers for our October membership meeting. Scenic America is a leading national advocate in efforts to ensure the natural beauty and unique characteristics of our country’s cities and rural areas. Ms. Maguire is a much sought after resource by communities striving to secure long-term quality of life and sustainability. Among Scenic America’s initiatives is encouraging communities to stop the detrimental impacts of billboard blight. Building on partnership with the Greater Allisonville Community Council, MCANA has been working steadily in recent months to bring billboard proliferation into the critical eye of our neighborhoods and elected officials. Scenic America has taken notice of MCANA’s efforts and Ms. Maguire accepted our invitation to Indianapolis with great enthusiasm. In addition to her keynote speech at MCANA’s October 18th meeting, Ms. Meguire will be meeting with several elected officials and enjoying a tour of Indianapolis. We invite all neighborhoods to attend the October 18th meeting to meet Ms. Maguire and hear her compelling and energizing presentation on billboard blight and how we can make a difference in Indianapolis. Ms. Maguire’s visit was initially set for our September meeting, but was rescheduled due to Hurricane Isabel. McANA had originally invited Mr. Greg Jordan, Marion County Treasurer and candidate for Mayor of Indianapolis, to speak at our October 18th meeting. Mr. Jordan has graciously agreed to share the time with Ms. Maguire. McANA chose not to have a Mayoral candidate’s forum as we did 4 years ago. Instead, Mayor Peterson joined us as our special guest in May and we will host Greg Jordan this month. Please bring your questions for where Mr. Jordan stands on neighborhood issues. This will be an outstanding McANA General Membership meeting. Mark your calendars now. send comments to webmaster@mcanaindy.org |
