Councilor Conley to Move Septic Ordinance Along

City-County Councilor Lonnell ‘King-Ro’ Conley visited with the McANA Board at the September 1 meeting. He is the new Chairman of the City-County Council’s Public Works committee.

A very good dialog was generated regarding the current status and future of the Septic Ordinance introduced last year by outgoing Councilor Beulah Coughenour. That proposal was at the stormy center of a Hearing by the Public Works committee which was shut down despite the fact that hundreds of citizens showed up to have their say on this critical issue.

Councilor Conley left the meeting with a promise to move forward this month on a proposal. The Ordinance proposed last year will be reviewed briefly and may be amended before being re-introduced to the sitting City-County Council.

McANA has set the funding of septic conversions as a priority. Keep up to date with Common Ground and www.mcanaindy.org. The issue will be on the agenda of the next NATE meeting at 4:00 pm on September 27, at the INRC.
