McANA to Sponsor Citizen's Review

Mayor Bart Peterson will introduce his proposal for the further consolidation of Township, City and County governments to the Indiana State Legislature regardless. He has set up a Blue Ribbon Committee to examine WHAT specifically should be offered for a vote by Senators and Legislators.

McANA believes that the question of IF further consolidation is wise should be addressed by our community and the details should be disseminated so that Marion County residents can make up their own minds in a matter that will be the most significant change in our ground level governance in a generation.

To that end, the McANA Board of Directors unanimously voted to support a McANA-spearheaded Citizen’s Review committee. Also distinctly different from the Mayor’s Committee, residents and neighborhoods of every Township will be represented on McANA’s committee. The aim will be to sift through the details of the competing claims to see just what might be earned or lost by various aspects of the Mayor’s proposal.

The specific operational details will be worked out by a small group and introduced to McANA’s members at our September 18 General Membership meeting (9:00 am, North United Methodist Church).
