Letter to Southside Residents about I-69

Greg Jordan is a candidate for Mayor of Indianapolis

Dear Southside Resident,

I have been walking door to door in your neighborhood talking to residents about why I am running for Mayor.  I know there is a pressing issue that affects Southside families: the decision by the state and approved by Mayor Peterson to build a new highway (I-69) from Indianapolis to Evansville using existing S.R. 37.  I disagree with this route and will work hard to convince public officials to reverse this decision.

While the state and city pursue this course without funds or essential details, hundreds of thousands of dollars continue to be poured into private development along S.R. 37, as well as publicly-funded improvements to the existing road, possibly only to be plowed over later when a new road is constructed.

To say there is an absence of any logic, common sense, or any coordination with those on the Southside most affected by this decision is an understatement.  I will be a strong voice for Southside residents to reverse this decision and encourage the exploration of other less costly options.

Sincerely,
Greg Jordan,
Candidate for Mayor of Indianapolis
